Job Description – Business Analyst (BA) 

The BA will support the business program office with large-scale systems implementation projects.  The BA will participate in analyzing issues and needs in support of business delivery management, business process management and strategic and organizational change management. Candidates must be able summarize complex ideas into clear and concise briefing materials that provide management with both the big picture as well as critical details.

Key Functions

The BA will be required to perform traditional BA functions including:

  • Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring
    • Create Requirements Plans
    • Identify and document Requirements Risks
    • Report on Requirements progress
  • Elicitation/Requirements Analysis
    • Facilitate Requirements gathering efforts
    • Identify Functional, Non-functional, and User Requirements that are clear, concise, traceable, and testable
  • Requirements Management and Communication
    • Develop Requirements documents and presentations
    • Conduct Requirements walkthroughs
  • Enterprise Analysis
    • Develop Business Objectives
    • Create Business Architecture
  • Solution Assessment and Validation
    • Review design documents and ensure requirements are met
    • Develop test strategy, test plans, test cases
    • Participate in User Acceptance Testing and Quality Assurance
    • Support defect management

The BA may be assigned additional tasks and responsibilities, including:

  • Meeting management services and support
  • Support for project management and teams during requirements analysis and testing phases of projects
  • Development of white papers and other briefing materials for the leadership within agency and the Department
  • Development of strategy papers and issue papers with recommendations
  • Integrating  materials into information repositories

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years developing IT requirements
  • Experience with software development projects
  • Knowledge of Agile Systems, Software Development Lifecycle a plus
  • BA certification highly desirable

The ideal candidate will have experience with:

  1. A variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
  2. Large scale Agile System Development Projects (i.e. Sprints, Scrums, and Product Backlog).
  3. Implementing end-to-end automated solutions
  4. Business Delivery Management, Business Process Management, Requirements Management, Business Process Reengineering, Defect Management, User Acceptance Testing, Risk Management
  5. User Story, Use Case, and Test Case Development
  6. Rational Product Suite (i.e. Rational Requirements Composer (RRC), Rational Team Concert (RTC), and Rational Quality Manager (RQM))
  7. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook), MS Project and SharePoint

Job Description – Project Manager (PM):

 The PM will support the specific Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) with large-scale systems implementation projects. The PM will participate in analyzing issues and needs in support of business delivery management, business process management and strategic and organizational change management. The PM must be able summarize complex ideas into clear and concise briefing materials that provide management with both the big picture as well as critical details where required. Key Functions The individual will be required to perform traditional project management functions including: Support the coordination and completion of assigned projects Set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor project progress Build and maintain working relationships with stakeholders, cross-functional team members, vendors, and other departments involved in assigned projects Prepare various reports, policy papers, briefing materials, presentations and recommendations for upper management review and decision Identify project resource needs Manage day-to-day operational aspects of project and scope Lead the development of deliverables and other work products prepared by the team before submitting to the client Identify and document business requirements; Monitor changes in business requirements and/or project scope and keep management informed Create and execute dynamic project work plans revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies escalating when appropriate Perform cost and resource analysis and develop recommendations for project leadership Ensure project related documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately Meeting management services and support Support project leadership and teams during requirements analysis and testing phases of projects.

 Qualifications:

About: CHCI’s scholarship opportunities are afforded to Latino students in the United States who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who demonstrate a desire to continue their civic engagement in the future.

Amount: $5,000 for graduate studies

Eligibility Criteria:

5-7 TA Positions Available at GWSB

The Career Center is looking for 5-7 TAs for a new undergraduate course, BADM 3001.  BADM 3001focuses on career management, business skills, resumes writing, etc. for students in the School of Business.  The TAs would be primarily responsible for managing the course load, helping the new professors (they are all adjuncts and all new) managing a class, etc.
