2014 GW Business Analytics Symposium, 30 May

You are invited to explore open data and the power of analytics at the 2014 GW Business Analytics Symposium. Sponsored by the GW School of Business, Department of Decision Sciences, and the Institute for Integrating Statistics in Decision Sciences, this day-long symposium will educate and connect you to the world of analytics. Visit http://www.gwanalytics.org/symposium/ for full details.

The event is on Friday, 30 May, 8 am to 5 pm with a reception following, in the Marvin Center at 800 21st St, NW. Registration is free for GW students, alumni, and faculty, but registration is required. Event is open to those outside of the GW community for a small fee. Breakfast, lunch and an evening reception are included.

Fall 2014 Registration – DE Sections Filling Up

If you have not yet registered for the fall semester, please consider doing so in the near future. Several of the distance sections of the MSPM courses are filling up. If you plan on attending courses on campus, though, you should register for the on-campus sections. The fall semester begins Monday, 25 Aug.

10-13 June – 2014 ICEAA Professional Development & Training Workshop in Denver, CO.

15-18 Jun – AACE International 2014 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA. The MSPM program has one full registration available to an interested student or alum. Registration is valued at $1,295. Offer includes event registration only.

16 Jun, 12-1pm EDT – GWebinar: Management Mindset vs. Leadership Mindset. Registration is free, but webinar limited to 300 participants.

Dear MSPM students,

Summer Registration, Drops, and Refunds

The summer semester began on Monday, 19 May. If you are interested in registering for a summer session I class, you are able to do so via GWeb through Monday, 26 May. A late registration fee will apply. Monday, 26 May is also the last day to drop a class via any means (GWeb or RTF).

Friday, 13 Jun, is the last day to withdraw from a summer session I class with a grade of ‘W’ using a Registration Transaction Form. Please note that refund policy for summer classes. Courses dropped BEFORE the first day of summer session classes will have 100% of tuition charges canceled. Courses dropped within the first 7 calendar days of a session will have 85% of tuition and fees refunded. No refund will be made for courses dropped thereafter.

PMI Educational Foundation Scholarships, 1 Jun Deadline

A majority of the scholarships available from the PMI Educational Foundation are due on 1 Jun. Review their website and begin your application today! I would love to beat the number of scholarships GW MSPM students earned from PMI in 2013.

Congratulations Graduates!

This morning, MSPM students walked across the stage in the Charles E. Smith Center for the GW School of Business Specialized Masters Celebration. Congratulations to all of our graduates from the fall 2013, spring 2014, and summer 2014 semesters. Check out the Facebook page for photos and videos. Do you have photos or videos to share? Add #gwmspmgrad to your photos when posting.

Graduates will receive their diplomas in the mail 8-12 weeks from their conferral date. Update your address on GWeb to avoid any shipping delays.

Summer Semester Starts Monday

Summer session 1 begins on Monday, 19 May. If you have not yet registered but need to enroll in a class that is full or closed, contact me immediately to discuss. Professors will open courses on Blackboard by the first day of class. Summer session 2 begins 7 Jul.

Summer Semester Begins 19 May

The summer semester begins the week of 19 May. If you plan to take a summer, register immediately to secure a seat and to avoid late fees. Tuition and fees for all summer courses are due before Monday, 19 May.

We will release available seats to non-MSPM students starting today. If you are trying to register for a course that is full, contact me immediately to discuss your options. Advisement sessions may always be scheduled via www.meetme.so/gwmspm. Save this site to your favorites for future access.

Attend the 13 May MSPM Student-Alumni Networking Reception

All current MSPM students, alumni, and faculty are invited to attend the MSPM Student-Alumni Networking Reception on Tuesday, 13 May. Register to attend this free event today! The event will be held in Duques Hall, 6th floor, from 6 to 8 pm.
