Dear MSPM Students,

Here are the top 3 things you need to know for December 3, 2019:

Electives in Spring 2020

Need a Decision Science elective in Spring 2020? The MSPM program is offering the following courses that will qualify toward your Decision Science Elective:

DNSC 6235: Communication Strategies in Project Management. 3 Credits.
Communication leadership and management practices that facilitate successful project management; strategies and practices related to communication, change management, and performance reporting.

DNSC 6252: Risk Analysis for Decision Making. 1.5 Credit.
Probabilistic modeling techniques with spreadsheet implementation, focusing on the concept of risk and methods for its analysis; risk attitudes, risk measures, decision trees, simulation models, game theory, real options approach, and risk communication. Prerequisites: DNSC 6202 or MBAD 6224.

DNSC 6225: Business Process Simulation. 1.5 Credit.
Introduction to the approaches and issues involved in business process design; basic tools used to analyze and improve processes; process modelings using a powerful discrete-event simulation tool. If DNSC 6206 and DNSC 6203 are taken as prerequisites, they must be completed in that order. Prerequisites: DNSC 6206 and DNSC 6203; or DNSC 6202 or MBAD 6224. Please note it helps to have some prior exposure to coding (any programming language). If students don’t have any coding experience they should be willing to put some extra time in for learning the software that will be used in the class

Looking for a General Elective? The General Elective must be taken for a letter grade with the exception of courses taken at the GW Law School where courses are letter graded and then converted to a CR on the graduate transcript. Elective credits can be fulfilled by completing  6000+ level course at GWU that is project-related. Review full list of offerings through the Schedule of Classes. Questions? Please schedule an advisement session with Agnes Socrates via and include your GWid.

Join us on Monday, December 9 from 6-7 p.m. in the Crain Center and enjoy networking, conversation and free dinner with fellow GWSB graduate students, faculty, staff and alumnus guest Michael Timmons, Director, Technical Solutions, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
