Full details of each scholarship, the eligibility criteria, and the applications are available on www.gwprojectmanagement.org. Applications must be submitted on or before 11:59pm EST December 16, 2013; we will not accept late applications.

Fall 2013 Course Feedback Surveys

As we near the end of the fall 2013 semester, the professors will begin to discuss the feedback surveys. We encourage all students to provide their open and honest feedback in these surveys so that we can improve the curriculum and faculty for the betterment of the program. The surveys are completely anonymous and will have no effect on your final grade in the course. Review the schedule for the survey release so that you may provide your feedback within the 5 day window.

Upcoming Networking, Education, and Social Events

Dear MSPM Students,

The top 3 items you need to know this week:

Spring 2014 Registration Opens 4 Nov

Registration for spring 2014 classes begins Monday, November 4, 2013. Review your degree plan in DegreeMAP (via GWeb) to confirm that you are on track for the spring term. Each student should also schedule an advisement session with me to touch base on your progress in the program and to confirm your plans for the spring. Schedule the session online via www.meetme.so/gwmspm.

Self-Service Enrollment Certificates

Current students can obtain enrollment certificates through a GWeb link to the National Student Clearinghouse. Select “Obtain an Enrollment Verification” from the Student Records Information Menu to print your own instant verification.

Letters of Enrollment primarily certify the semesters in which a student is or has been enrolled, the dates of those semesters, and the student’s enrollment status (full-time, etc.).

Dear MSPM Students,

This special issue of MSPM: In the Know contains exciting new information for all MSPM students.

Free Conference Registration to PMI Global Congress 2013–North America, 27-29 Oct

The MSPM program is happy to offer one complimentary full registration to the PMI Global Congress 2013–North America in New Orleans, LA on October 27-29, 2013. Join thousands of professionals in project management from across the globe to participate in a program and exhibit hall that will provide practical information to increase efficiency, productivity and profitability while tackling the challenges facing the project management profession.

If you are interested in attending, send an email to chapp@gwu.edu with a brief statement as to why you deserve to receive the complimentary registration (no more than 250 words). A recipient will be selected by 5pm EDT Tuesday, October 15. The full registration is valued at $1,675. Please note that the offer is limited to the Full Congress Registration and does not provide funding or support for travel, lodging, meals, incidentals, etc. In exchange for the full conference registration, we would like for the recipient to provide a summary of their experience at the event to be shared via social media, the blog, or in a future newsletter.

Change to GWSB Celebration Schedule, May 2014

Due to the increase in the number of graduating students we have exceeded maximum capacity at the Smith Center. As a result, the School of Business will host two ceremonies during commencement week. Those graduating from the specialized masters programs will be honored at the GWSB Celebration on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 7:30pm in Lisner Auditorium. Further details will be released as we approach graduation, but I wanted to be sure that everyone was aware of the dates so that you may plan accordingly. The benefit of this decision is that each student should receive additional tickets for their guests at the GWSB Celebration.

Those taking DNSC 6269 Project Management Application (capstone) in spring 2014 in the distance mode should plan for residency week to be scheduled May 12-16, 2014. All graduating MSPM students will also be invited to a feedback session during lunch on Friday, May 16.

Finally, the University Commencement will remain as planned for Sunday, May 18, 2014. The event usually begins at 10 and is held on the National Mall. All those graduating in fall 2013, spring 2014, and summer 2014 are eligible to participate in both the GWSB Celebration and the University Commencement in May 2014.
