Congratulations 2016 Graduates!

GWUSB GraduationIt was a successful commencement week, yet bittersweet end-of-a-beginning last week as the 2016 graduates embark on a new journey. Sixty-five MSPM students (including author of this blog) joined the ranks of General Colin Powell, M.B.A. (Former US Secretary of State); Jacqueline Kennedy, B.A. (Former First Lady of the United States) and Baroness Joanna Shields, M.B.A. (Under-Secretary of State and Minister for Internet Safety & Security in the United Kingdom), to name a few, as graduates of the George Washington University on May 15, 2016. We celebrated in multiple ways between the residency week for the capstone students, the GWSB Gala, GWSB Commencement Celebration and the GW Commencement at the National Mall. Congratulations fellow 2016 graduates!

US Senator Cory Booker brought enthusiasm during his Commencement address at the National Mall. His words were moving:

“Stay faithful because you have come this far by faith—faith in each other, faith in yourselves, faith in our country. And understand that you may not be called to change the whole world, but to one person, you could make a world of difference.”

To piggyback on Sen. Booker’s speech, here are some words of wisdom to my fellow graduates:

Sometimes our worst enemy is being afraid of taking risks. We often discount the cost of inaction, and we tend to focus too much on the likelihood of risks occurring when the truth is, the odds of them not happening are higher. So fellow graduates, soar high and welcome all the new challenges ahead of you!
