Get to Know the Spring 2016 Incoming Class
The bio book for the incoming spring 2016 class is available on the blog (password: gwmspm). The incoming class participated in orientation on campus on Friday, 8 Jan. Visit the GW PMA Facebook page for pictures from the bridge game.

DreamSpark
All MSPM students, including the new spring 2016 students, have access to DreamSpark. DreamSpark provides free downloads of Microsoft software, including Project. Instructions on downloading software from DreamSpark are available on the blog (password: gwmspm). If you are accessing DreamSpark for the first time, you will need to register/create an account using your @gwmail.gwu.edu email address.

Students may also download VM Fusion, helpful if using a Mac. VM Fusion simulates a Windows environment on Macs.

Add/Drop Deadlines
Looking add or drop a course? Be aware of the various add/drop deadlines. The Office of the Registrar provides all deadlines to be aware of as they relate to registration. 24 Jan is the last day to add a course on GWeb. 7 Feb is the last day to drop a course on GWeb. Be aware of the refund schedule, as well.

MSPM Handbook
The MSPM program recently published a student handbook. The handbook serves as a resource to students, outlining program policies and procedures, and reminding all students of the policies and procedures of the George Washington University and the GW School of Business. As a reminder, all students are responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures, including those published in the University Bulletin, the School of Business Bulletin, and the MSPM Student Handbook.

Fall Course Reminders
The fall semester began yesterday. The courses will appear on Blackboard once the faculty make them available. In some instances this will not occur until the first lecture. Review the Blackboard Collaborate schedule on the blog if you are registered for the online section of a course. Textbook information is also on the blog. Specific questions about a certain course? Contact the professor for details.

Last Day to Add a Course via GWeb, 11 Sep
The last day to add a course via GWeb is Friday, 11 Sep. If you plan to add a course, make the decision early to avoid missed lectures and/or assignments.

Megaprojects, 4 Jun, Limited Number of Free Registrations for MSPM Students
The MSPM program is pleased to offer a limited number of free registrations to the 4 Jun Megaprojects: Theory Meets Practice, 3rd International Workshop. The event features international and domestic speakers from government, industry, and academia. If you are interested in attending, email Cambria Happ at chapp@gwu.edu and provide the following information: Full Name, Email, Employer, and Job Title. All registration requests must be received no later than Monday, 1 Jun, at 9 a.m. EDT. Preregistration required, onsite registrations will not be accommodated.

• Applying Lessons from the PMBOK to the Real World, 27 May
The MSPM program is proud to host the PMIWDC Washington Circle Luncheon on Wednesday, 27 May, 12-1 p.m. Tomorrow’s topic is “Applying Lessons from the PMBOK Guide to the Real World” with speaker Mark Tolbert, PMP. The brown bag event (bring your lunch) is free to attend and is held in Duques Hall, room 453. Register online at www.pmiwdc.org.

Last Day to Add Summer Session 1 Class, 29 May
Friday, 29 May, is the last day to add a class for Summer Session 1 using a Registration Transaction Form.

Yesterday, 25 May, was the last day to drop a course in Summer Session 1. The last day to withdraw from a Summer Session 1 class with a grade of W is Friday, 12 Jun. Assess your situation and take action early. Each student is responsible for understanding the add/drop/withdraw schedule and for managing themselves accordingly.

Last week was a busy time on campus. Between residency week for our online capstone students, the GWSB gala, GWSB awards ceremony, the school celebration, and the GW Commencement on the National Mall, we celebrated the grads every day of the week and in every way possible.

The PMA is proud to host the AACEI National Capital Section Meeting on Thursday, 21 May, at GWSB. Bill Hombach is the featured speaker at the event. AACEI has offered free registration to GW students. To register, email chapp@gwu.edu with your full name, email address, and GW program by 5 p.m. 20 May.

Summer Registration Deadlines
The summer semester began on 18 May. Monday, 25 May, is the last day to add a class via GWeb and to drop a class using any means (GWeb, RTF), for Summer Session I. Take action now to avoid issues later. Visit the Office of the Registrar site for full details and info on Summer Session II.

Last Day to Add/Drop via GWeb, 25 Jan
Sunday, 25 Jan, is the last day to register, add, or drop using the GWeb Info System. After this date students must use a Registration Transaction Form to make changes to their schedule. GWeb registration is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Failure to register for classes or to apply for a Leave of Absence puts your enrollment at GW in jeopardy. Take the necessary steps to protect your enrollment in the MSPM program. Questions? Schedule an advisement session to discuss.

GWSB Global & Experiential Education offers 11 opportunities for graduate students to study domestically or overseas this summer and earn up to 6 credits. Career Week 2014

Presented by the F. David Fowler Career Center, Career Week 2014 is scheduled for 8-12 Sep. Events during the week include professional head shots, panel discussions, aptitude tests, and more. The schedule of events is available online with registration through GWorkSB.

Alumni Weekend 2014

Every year during Alumni Weekend, campus comes alive as thousands of alumni, friends and families return to GW. During the four days of activities, 18-21 Sep, all Colonials and their families are invited to choose from 60+ events. Students are invited to participate. Review the schedule of events and register online.

Last Day to Add/Drop via GWeb

Sunday, 7 Sep, is the last day to add or drop classes via GWeb. Refer to the refund schedule for dropped courses and possible refunds. As a reminder, you must be registered for a class every fall and spring semester or apply to take a Leave of Absence to maintain continuous enrollment at GW. Failure to do so puts your enrollment into jeopardy.

Last Chance to Register for Friday Reception

All current MSPM students are invited to attend the 15 Aug reception hosted by the GW MS in Project Management Alumni Network. Registration is free but required. Come meet the incoming class of students and catch up with alumni. Reception is in Duques Hall, 6th floor, from 6:30 to 8 pm.

Last Day to Drop with Full Refund, 24 Aug

Sunday, 24 Aug, is the last day to drop fall semester classes for a full refund. Starting Monday, 25 Aug, drops are subject to the university refund schedule. If you plan to take a Leave of Absence this semester, submit a Registration Transaction Form to Cambria Happ before 25 Aug. Failure to enroll in courses or to take a Leave of Absence will put you in violation of the Continuous Enrollment policy.

Participate in the GW Photo Shoot, 15 Aug

Register to participate in the GW photo shoot planned for Friday, 15 Aug, 2:15 pm in Kogan Plaza. The photo will be used in the fall issue of GW Magazine. Photo will include students, alumni, staff, and faculty.

Dear MSPM students,

Fall 2014 Need-Based Scholarships, 24 Jul Deadline

Need-based scholarship funding has been made available to current MSPM students in the fall 2014 semester. The program will award up to three scholarships, each in the amount of $2,500. Full details on the need-based scholarships, the eligibility criteria, and the application is available on www.gwprojectmanagement.org. Applications must be submitted on or before 11:59pm EDT Thursday, July 24, 2014; late applications will not be accepted.

Scholarship applicants are encouraged to utilize the University Writing Center or the English for Academic Purposes Program to ensure that they put forward a graduate-level writing effort. Essays received with spelling errors, poor grammar, or formatting issues receive less consideration than those that exhibit graduate-level writing.

10-Month Annual Payment Plan Enrollment, 10 Jul Deadline

GW has partnered with ECSI to offer an interest-free monthly payment plan available to all students. For those interested in the annual plan, you may spread your tuition payments out over a 10-month period. The first deadline to sign up for the service is Thursday, 10 Jul. Those who sign up by 10 Jul will pay a reduced application fee of $55. Details are available on the Student Accounts Office website.

Last Day to Add/Drop Summer Session II Courses, 13 Jul Deadline

Sunday, 13 Jul, is the last day to add a class using the GWeb Information System, and to drop a class using any means, for Summer Session II. After this date students must use a Registration Transaction Form to make changes to their schedule. GWeb registration is available from 7am – 10pm.

Please also be aware of the refund schedule for summer courses, as the policies differ from the regular schedule. Failure to plan or to take action could cost you money.
