Spring 2014 Semester Begins Week of 13 Jan
2013 PMIEF Scholarship and Grant Recipients
2014 PMI Research & Education Conference

Dear MSPM Students,

Happy 2014! As you prepare for the start of the spring semester, these are top 3 items you need to know:

Spring 2014 Semester Begins Week of 13 Jan

Classes begin next week! Review the Schedule of Classes, your individual schedule on GWeb, and the GW Bookstore for days, times, locations, and textbook information for your courses. The Blackboard Collaborate schedule, as well as the textbook information, is also available via www.gwprojectmanagement.org.

The last day to add or drop a course via GWeb is 26 Jan. Courses added between 13-26 Jan will incur an $80 late fee. Courses dropped prior to 13 Jan will have 100% of the tuition charges cancelled. Courses dropped on or after 13 Jan are subject to the university refund schedule – on campus and off campus schedules.

Courses not yet appearing on Blackboard even though you confirmed your registration in GWeb? Chances are the professor has not yet activated the course in Blackboard. Rest assured that your course will be activated by the first day of the on-campus class. If you have specific questions about your course, the schedule, or the syllabus, contact your professor. Contact information for all faculty, staff, and students is available via the directory on my.gwu.edu.

2013 PMIEF Scholarship and Grant Recipients

Congratulations to the nine GW MSPM students who received scholarships or grants from the PMI Educational Foundation in 2013. The full list of recipients is available in the Jan 2014 issue of PMI Today. Review the list of available scholarships from the PMIEF for the next academic year and apply by the posted deadlines for consideration in 2014.

2014 PMI Research & Education Conference

Dear MSPM Students,

The top 3 items you need to know this week:

Spring 2014 Registration Tips

Registration for the spring semester began on Monday, 4 Nov. Below are tips on registration:

– If you are not able to locate a project management elective in GWeb, be sure to look under the “Special Topics” heading within the DNSC course listings.

– If you have an academic hold or financial hold on your account, you will not be able to register. For academic holds, schedule an advisement session with me via www.meetme.so/gwmspm to discuss. For financial holds, contact the Student Accounts Office to discuss.

– If you are registering for DNSC 6269 PM Applications (capstone), you cannot do so via GWeb. You must submit a Registration Transaction Form to me for approval and processing. The form must be complete with all details provided, including the correct CRN and section.

– Review your plans in DegreeMAP to ensure that they are up-to-date. Questions regarding changes to your plan may be addressed in an advisement session.

– The summer 2014 schedule will be made available towards the end of March.

Updated List of External Scholarships
Spring 2014 – Schedule, Registration, and Holds
Upcoming Networking, Education, and Social Events

Dear MSPM Students,

The top 3 items you need to know this week:

Updated List of External Scholarships

New scholarships have been added to the list of external scholarships on www.gwprojectmanagement.org. The scholarships listed are available to graduate students pursuing studies in project management and related fields. Scholarships are like the lottery, you can’t win if you don’t play.

On a related note, the MSPM program does not have additional funding available for current students at this time. Should funding become available, we will certainly notify all students within the program.

Spring 2014 – Schedule, Registration, and Holds

The spring 2014 schedule is now available on the Schedule of Classes via the Office of the Registrar website. Registration opens November 4. Prior to registering for classes, schedule an advisement session with me via www.meetme.so/gwmspm to confirm your plan in DegreeMAP is aligned with your course selection.

Make sure you remove any holds on your account that may prevent you from registering for your classes. Pay your student account balance as financial holds will be placed on accounts showing a balance of $500 or more. If you are currently on probation, you must register for classes through me during your advisement session.

If you are taking DNSC 6269 PM Applications (capstone) in the spring, you must submit a completed Registration Transaction Form to my attention via email or fax to register for the course. Don’t forget to also apply for graduation if you are completing all program requirements in the spring 2014 semester.
