The George Washington University Division of Information Technology (IT) Project and Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) is hosting an inaugural Project Management Symposium on Monday, September 21, 2015. This is a one-day event created for the exchanging and sharing of knowledge of project management practices in higher education.

The fee includes admission to the conference, lunch and refreshments:
GW Attendees – $60
Non-GW Attendees – $85

Professional Development Units (PDUs)
Attendees with Project Management Certifications through the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be able to claim PDUs for this event. The maximum amount of PDUs available will be communicated shortly.

VALOR and the Office of Military Affairs in conjunction with GW Career Services is proud to announce a new initiative aimed at supporting our VALOR students at GW in their efforts towards professional development with the advent of the VALOR Professional Credentialing Grant. Eligible VALOR students may apply for a reimbursement grant to be applied towards a number of professional certification exams. GW Division of IT Hiring Project Manager

GW is hiring an Assistant Director, Project Management to serve within the Division of Information Technology (DIT), specifically the Project and Portfolio Management Office. The Assistant Director will manage a team of project managers and will be responsible for technical project management within the division. Maintaining project management methodologies and tools for the division, managing, leading and mentoring a team of project managers, building cohesive teams and driving organizational effectiveness and accountability through evaluation are some focus areas of the Assistant Director. This role serves as a key liaison between the Project and Portfolio Management Office and key technical leaders throughout the Division of IT. In addition, this role will provide insight into the road-map planning processes for the division and will play a key role in managing the IT portfolio of work.

Summer 2014 Textbook List

The textbook list for the summer 2014 MSPM courses is now available at www.gwprojectmanagement.org. The list of books has also been shared with the GW bookstore. For those looking to find the cheapest options available, review this list of 11 sites for cheap textbooks.

For all non-MSPM courses, please check the Schedule of Classes or the GW Bookstore sites for textbook information. The fall 2014 textbook list should be made available to all students in July.

University Counseling Center

This messages serves as a reminder of the services provided by the University Counseling Center. The Center is the primary mental health agency for GW students and the rest of the campus community. Their office on the Foggy Bottom Campus is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. 24-hour support is available via phone at 202-994-5300.  We encourage all students to utilize the Center’s services.

Summer Registration Opens Monday, 3 Mar

Registration for the 2014 Summer Sessions will open on Monday, 3 Mar. Students may register for classes on GWeb. All students should consult their plan in DegreeMAP or schedule an advisement session with the program director to confirm summer registrations. Have your plans or ability to attend in the summer changed since your plan in DegreeMAP was developed? If so, your graduation date may be impacted. Schedule an advisement session to discuss your plans.

As a reminder, the last day to withdraw from a course in the spring 2014 semester with a grade of W is Friday, 7 Mar.
