Changes and Updates to Blackboard and Lecture Capture in Spring 2014

Students will experience several changes to the technology utilized in the MSPM program.

1. An additional login is required to watch the lecture capture. In Blackboard, you’ll select the link to watch the recorded lecture. Prior to viewing the recording, the Echo 360 site will ask that you enter a username and password. Enter your NetID and the same password used to log in to your email and on to Blackboard. Your NetID is the text to the left of the @ sign in your email. For example, if your email is mspmstudent@gwmail.gwu.edu, you NetID is mspmstudent.

2. A new version of Blackboard was released over the winter break. Take some time over the weekend to navigate through the updated version to discover new features and system improvements.

3. The use of iTunes U for course lectures and recordings was discontinued December 26, 2013. Beginning in the 2014 spring semester, ColonialCast Lecture Capture will be solely powered by the Echo360 service. With this service change, all future lecture capture content will be stored and delivered through the Echo360 platform.

Dear MSPM Students,

The top 3 items you need to know this week:

iTunes U Discontinued, 26 Dec

GW will discontinue the use of iTunes U for course lectures and recordings. After December 26, you will no longer be able to log in to iTunes U to view the course content. Before this date, sign in to your iTunes U course and download any material stored on iTunes U that you would like to keep for future use. A short tutorial is available on YouTube.

GW Commencement 2014

For those students who are participating in the GW commencement ceremony in May 2014 (fall 2013, spring 2014, and summer 2014 graduates), information on the event will be available at http://commencement.gwu.edu/. Although the site lists information for the 2013 event, you may gain a sense of the event schedule, maps, ticket process, etc.

The GW commencement ceremony will take place on the National Mall the morning of Sunday, May 18. The GW School of Business Celebration event for specialized masters will take place on the evening of Saturday, May 17, which is a change from 2013. Commencement weekend dates are always available from the academic calendar.

Graduation Services will provide more details to students directly once the application for graduation is submitted. For spring 2014 graduates, your applications are do to me by February 1. All fall 2013 graduates should have already submitted their graduation applications.

MSPM Student Bio Books

As a reminder, all MSPM students have access to the bio books for each incoming class on www.gwprojectmanagement.org. This is a great way to learn about your fellow classmates and also remind yourself of the people you met during your orientation.

Lecture Capture Unavailable via Blackboard March 13-15, 2013

Notice to all MSPM students:

The ColonialCast (Echo360) media streaming service (lecture capture) is currently under maintenance. The service will be offline from March 13, 2013 at 7am until March 15, 2013 at 7am. During this time, streaming links from Blackboard will not work, however all content will be accessible via iTunes U.  This outage has been scheduled to occur during spring break to reduce interruption of service to the students and professors.
