Course Description: Leading teams is a critical competence for many project managers and the ability to lead and work effectively in teams is a skillset that is highly valued in organizations. Yet, there are many challenges to effective teamwork and these challenges increase when team members are distributed across different cultures, locations and time zones and rely on electronic rather than face-to-face communication.

This course will help you to develop knowledge and skills that are relevant to effectively leading and participating in teams in the global, digital age. Participants will receive evidence-based guidance on how to (1) set teams up for success, (2) promote effective team dynamics, (3) facilitate effective cross-cultural collaboration, and (4) navigate the challenges of virtual teamwork where team members are distributed across space and time. Using a variety of instructional approaches (e.g., self-assessments, case analyses, individual and group activities), participants will have the opportunity to develop practical strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of the teams to which they belong.
