Registration Now Open for Megaprojects: Theory Meets Practice, 3rd International Workshop
The Megaprojects: Theory Meets Practice workshop will be held at GWSB on Thursday, 4 Jun. Featured speakers come from the Architect of the Capitol, Maryland Transit Administration, NASA, The World Bank, MIT, LMI, and more. Registration is $100. Share with your colleagues, classmates, and fellow project managers. Earn 7 PDUs at the one day workshop.
Summer Semester Begins Monday, 18 May
Summer classes begin on Monday. Have you confirmed your course selection for summer? Core and elective courses are available. Register now to avoid late fees and to secure a seat in your desired course. Late fees will be assessed starting Monday, 18 May, for Session I courses. Monday, 25 May, is the last day to add a class via GWeb or to drop a class via any means for Session I.

Congrats to Katie Goodner!
Congratulations to MSPM student, Katie Goodner. Katie won a scholarship from the New Mexico Technology Council.  In recognition of the vital need of ongoing technology education and certification, NMTC and their sponsors awarded a single scholarship to one of their members at the 7th Annual Women in Technology Celebration on 5 Mar, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. #GWSBProud

2015 MSPM Award Winners Announced

Congratulations to our 2015 award winners! Outstanding GWSB faculty and graduating students are honored each year at the GWSB Awards Ceremony. The award winners for 2015 are as follows:

Outstanding Master of Science in Project Management Faculty Award – Dr. Homayoun Khamooshi

Master of Science in Project Management Service Excellence Award – Angelia Bowman

The award winners will be honored at an invitation-only ceremony on Thursday, May 14, and at the GWSB Masters and Doctoral Celebration on Friday, May 15. Congratulations Dr. Khamooshi, Angelia, and Chris!

Seeking Graduate Ambassadors 2015-2016

Apply to serve as a Graduate Ambassador in 2015-2016 by June 1, 2015. Graduate Ambassadors are a group of current graduate students who serve as representatives of the GW graduate student experience. They plan events for current students and answer questions for prospective students.

Colonial Cup’s Day of Service, 26 Apr
MSPM students are invited to participate in Colonial Cup’s Day of Service on Sunday, 26 Apr, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Volunteers will work with Loaves and Fishes, a meals ministry that serves the hungry, to set the dining room and serve each seated guest. If you are interested, sign up by Thursday, 23 Apr.

Loaves and Fishes is located at 1525 Newton St, NW in Washington, DC. Closest Metro station is Columbia Heights.

• RRMC Seeking a Project Manager (Washington, DC)
The Research & Regulatory Management Council (RRMC) is seeking a project manager to provide comprehensive oversight by planning, directing, and coordinating activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished for multiple joint venture and task force programs. RRMC designs and develops required health and safety data for raw chemical manufacturers and companies that market end-use products.

Seeking Student “Actors” for Online Course Development, Compensation Provided
2U, which produces online courses for GW and other universities, is seeking students to participate in round table discussions on camera in February and March as part of their online course development. Interested students should have completed an introductory finance and accounting/auditing course. Student “actors” are required to read case studies and come prepared to discuss the material on camera in a round table format. Compensation provided, estimated at $300 for a half day of filming. • Spring 2015 Registration
Only 50% of the MSPM students have registered for classes in the spring semester. Be sure to complete your course registration immediately. We are starting to release seats to non-MSPM students on the wait list. Do not lose the opportunity to secure a seat in your required or preferred courses/sections.

To register in DNSC 6269 PM Application (Capstone), you must complete and submit a Registration Transaction Form to my attention via email, fax, or in person. You cannot register via GWeb for DNSC 6269.

Thanksgiving Break
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving break begins today, 26 Nov, and extends through Friday, 28 Nov. GW offices will close today at 2 p.m. and reopen on Monday, 1 Dec, at 9 a.m. Enjoy your break!

• Spring 2015 Scholarships, 14 Dec Deadline
Scholarship funding is available for current MSPM students in the spring 2015 semester. The program will award two scholarships, each in the amount of $3,750. Full details on the two scholarships, the eligibility criteria, and the applications are available on www.gwprojectmanagement.org. Applications must be submitted on or before 11:59 p.m. EST Sunday, 14 Dec; late applications will not be accepted.

Scholarship applicants are encouraged to utilize the University Writing Center or the English for Academic Purposes Program to ensure they put forth a graduate-level writing effort. Essays received with spelling errors, poor grammar, or formatting issues receive less consideration than those that exhibit graduate-level writing.
