Message from Cambria Happ
Effective Monday, 19 Oct, I assumed a new position at the GW School of Business. I will now serve as Executive Director, GWSB Masters Programs. In this new role I am responsible for the management of the administrative and academic advising aspects of graduate-level programs to include MBA programs and specialized masters programs. I will continue to fulfill the Director, MS in Project Management role until a replacement is identified. With that said, rest assured that you may continue to contact me to discuss your program plan, to request official letters, or to discuss any other aspect of the MSPM program. Once a new program director is hired, we will work together to provide a seamless transition for the program. Students are our first priority and we will work to ensure you have full access to the variety of resources and information at GWSB.

Business Analytics Speaker Series: Deriving Value from Agile Project Management, 23 Oct
MSPM students and alumni are invited to attend the upcoming Business Analytics Speaker Series event on Friday, 23 Oct, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Joshua Seckel, Chief of Applied Technology Division at DHS USCIS, will present “Deriving Value from Agile Project Management.” Event location is Duques Hall, room 258. Seminar will apply towards the business analytics certificate seminar requirement.

PMIWDC Washington Circle Luncheon, 28 Oct
David Offenkrantz presents “Some Successful Keys to Stakeholder Management” at the next PMIWDC Washington Circle Luncheon. Make plans to attend the lunchtime event on Wednesday, 28 Oct, 12-1 p.m. in Duques Hall, room 453. Register online, event is free.

GWSB Career Fair, 30 Sep
Tomorrow is the GWSB Career Fair hosted by the F. David Fowler Career Center and sponsored by Macy’s, Aon, and Deloitte. Registration required via GWorkSB >> Events >> Career Fairs. Event takes place in Duques Hall from 12:30-4 p.m. Employers represented at the fair include M Powered Strategies, Kimpton Hotels, Under Armour, Raytheon, and the Sanofi Group. A full list of employers is available online.
M Powered Strategies is hiring graduate students in their Government Consulting Internship Program. Interns would work for 10-15 hours per week for either one or two semesters in a paid position. Apply online via http://goo.gl/forms/uYNKLtQwMU.

• Applying Lessons from the PMBOK to the Real World, 27 May
The MSPM program is proud to host the PMIWDC Washington Circle Luncheon on Wednesday, 27 May, 12-1 p.m. Tomorrow’s topic is “Applying Lessons from the PMBOK Guide to the Real World” with speaker Mark Tolbert, PMP. Last Day to Add Summer Session 1 Class, 29 May
Friday, 29 May, is the last day to add a class for Summer Session 1 using a Registration Transaction Form.

Yesterday, 25 May, was the last day to drop a course in Summer Session 1. The last day to withdraw from a Summer Session 1 class with a grade of W is Friday, 12 Jun. Assess your situation and take action early. Each student is responsible for understanding the add/drop/withdraw schedule and for managing themselves accordingly.

• RRMC Seeking a Project Manager (Washington, DC)
The Research & Regulatory Management Council (RRMC) is seeking a project manager to provide comprehensive oversight by planning, directing, and coordinating activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished for multiple joint venture and task force programs. RRMC designs and develops required health and safety data for raw chemical manufacturers and companies that market end-use products.

• Spring 2015 Registration Deadlines
The spring semester begins on Monday, 12 Jan. If you have not yet registered for classes, do so before 12 Jan to avoid the late registration fee.

Sunday, 25 Jan, is the last day to add or drop courses on GWeb. Friday, 6 Feb, is the last day to add or drop a course using an RTF without academic penalty.

Failure to register for classes or to request a Leave of Absence puts you in violation of the continuous enrollment policy and jeopardizes your enrollment at GW.

Blackboard Access & Collaborate Schedule
Access to courses in Blackboard will occur next week, by the first day of your class. Some professors have already made their courses available this week.

The Blackboard Collaborate schedule is available on the blog for the Spring 2015 distance/online sections.

Free Registration to PMI Global Congress 2014-North America

The MSPM program is offering one free registration to an MSPM student who is interested in attending the PMI Global Congress 2014-North America in Phoenix, AZ 26-28 Oct. The event provides attendees the opportunity to gain fresh ideas, learn new skills, advance their careers, and build a professional network. Contact Cambria Happ, program director, for details at chapp@gwu.edu. Offer is restricted to registration for the event, a $1,750 value. Travel, lodging, meals, and all other associated expenses are the responsibility of the individual.

Fall Graduation Application Deadline, 1 Oct

All degree-seeking students who will complete their degree requirements in the fall 2014 semester must apply for graduation via the online graduation application in GWeb by 1 Oct. Students who miss the published deadline must use the late paper application and will be assess a $35 late application fee.
