Summer 2016 Short-Term Study Away Programs, 28 Feb Application Deadline

Audition to Speak or Sing at the GWSB Commencement Celebration, Apply by 26 Feb
Students eligible to participate in the May 2016 commencement are invited to audition to either speak or sing at the GWSB Commencement Celebration. Email gradspkr@gwu.edu by 26 Feb to sign up for an audition time. Please be prepared to deliver a 3-5 minute commencement speech or to sing the National Anthem and Alma Mater.

Spring 2016 Registration Now Open
Registration for spring 2016 classes began yesterday, 9 Nov. If you have not done so, register for spring classes to ensure a seat in the courses you need to graduate. Not sure which classes to take? Review your plan in DegreeMAP and/or schedule an advisement session with me.

Registration in DNSC 6269 PM Application is not available via GWeb. To register, complete and submit a Registration Transaction Form to my attention via email, fax, or in person (Duques 550). The professor’s signature is not required, but you will need to enter all details for the course per the Schedule of Classes. Incomplete forms will be returned. Those in the DE section are required to participate in the residency week in DC May 9-13.

Tentative Summer 2016 Schedule
The summer 2016 schedule will be released by early March. The program plans to offer only electives this coming summer. The project management-focused elective offerings are:

GW Valor Professional Credentialing Grant, Applications Due 1 Nov 2015

The GW VALOR student growth strategy is to improve access and affordability of a quality GW education for the military and veteran community. There are a myriad of GW VALOR initiatives which support the mission. One such initiative is that the GW VALOR Professional Grant, where GW VALOR reimburses the cost (in the form of a grant) to take the examination for designated credentials.

Job Description: The candidate will work to support various programs for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The candidate with provide business and finance lifecycle support to include:

· ​​Conducting Cost/Benefit Analyses
· Developing life cycle cost estimate and benefits models
· Performing risk analyses to assess the risks associated with costs, benefits, schedule and technical performance
· Conducting iterative trade-off analyses among cost, schedule, performance, and benefits
· Developing business cases and associated reports
· Providing business management functions such as budgeting, financial analysis and planning and control of funding and allocation
· Providing cost estimating budget planning, programmatic decision-making, and other activities as needed
· Formulating spend plans and providing assistance in the development of obligation plans
· Developing current year and out-year budget forecasts and justification documentation
· Assisting with budget inquiries, program budget and requirements analyses, and impact statements
· Tracking and providing summary reports on funding allocations, obligations, expenditures, funds remaining, and projected shortfalls/surpluses
· Tracking actual contract costs, reviewing invoices, and preparing payment recommendation
· Tracking quarterly spend plans, developing estimates to complete projections, forecasting required funding profiles, and supporting end of year closeouts
· Reconciling financial system payment data with invoice certifications
· Conducting program control and tracking to include Earned Value Management

Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in the following fields of study: Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Operations Research, Statistics or a related field of study. Masters degree a plus.

ACQUISITION/PROGRAM MANAGEMENT ANALYST

Location: Washington, DC

​Position:  Full-Time Job Description:  The Candidate will work as part of team that will support various programs for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  The Candidate will provide acquisition strategy and planning and life cycle program/project management support to include:

· Conducting market research, developing market surveys, planning solicitations, responding to vendor inquiries and preparing market analysis reports

· Providing cost, schedule and technical program support
· Developing and maintaining integrated program schedule
· Conducting program risk analysis including the development of mitigation strategies
· Assisting the government with Contractor oversight including task order preparation and management, and reviewing vendor deliverables
· Developing, monitoring and tracking program metrics
· Other acquisition and program management duties as necessary

Qualifications:  Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in the following fields of study: Business Administration, Communications, Finance, Information Systems/Technology, Humanities, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Math or a related field of study.  Masters degree a plus.
