MSPM: In the Know
Dear MSPM Students,
Happy 2014! As you prepare for the start of the spring semester, these are top 3 items you need to know:
Spring 2014 Semester Begins Week of 13 Jan
Classes begin next week! Review the Schedule of Classes, your individual schedule on GWeb, and the GW Bookstore for days, times, locations, and textbook information for your courses. The Blackboard Collaborate schedule, as well as the textbook information, is also available via www.gwprojectmanagement.org.
The last day to add or drop a course via GWeb is 26 Jan. Courses added between 13-26 Jan will incur an $80 late fee. Courses dropped prior to 13 Jan will have 100% of the tuition charges cancelled. Courses dropped on or after 13 Jan are subject to the university refund schedule – on campus and off campus schedules.
Courses not yet appearing on Blackboard even though you confirmed your registration in GWeb? Chances are the professor has not yet activated the course in Blackboard. Rest assured that your course will be activated by the first day of the on-campus class. If you have specific questions about your course, the schedule, or the syllabus, contact your professor. Contact information for all faculty, staff, and students is available via the directory on my.gwu.edu.
2013 PMIEF Scholarship and Grant Recipients
Congratulations to the nine GW MSPM students who received scholarships or grants from the PMI Educational Foundation in 2013. The full list of recipients is available in the Jan 2014 issue of PMI Today. Review the list of available scholarships from the PMIEF for the next academic year and apply by the posted deadlines for consideration in 2014.
2014 PMI Research & Education Conference
The deadline to submit a paper to the 2014 Research & Education Conference is Monday, 13 Jan. The conference is scheduled for 26-29 Jul 2014 in Portland, Oregon. Registration will open in Mar 2014. They welcome conceptual, empirical or theoretical work using project, program, or portfolio management as the subject or context of the research. Faculty and students are encouraged to participate.
