•Colonial Cup’s Day of Service, 26 Apr
MSPM students are invited to participate in Colonial Cup’s Day of Service on Sunday, 26 Apr, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Volunteers will work with Loaves and Fishes, a meals ministry that serves the hungry, to set the dining room and serve each seated guest. If you are interested, sign up by Thursday, 23 Apr.
Loaves and Fishes is located at 1525 Newton St, NW in Washington, DC. Closest Metro station is Columbia Heights.

• Spring 2015 Registration
Only 50% of the MSPM students have registered for classes in the spring semester. Be sure to complete your course registration immediately. We are starting to release seats to non-MSPM students on the wait list. Do not lose the opportunity to secure a seat in your required or preferred courses/sections.
To register in DNSC 6269 PM Application (Capstone), you must complete and submit a Registration Transaction Form
to my attention via email, fax, or in person. You cannot register via GWeb for DNSC 6269.

Free tickets will be available by lottery to GW students. Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” will bring its Emmy-winning blend of news and satirical comedy to GW’s Lisner Auditorium on Monday, 8 Dec. To enter the ticket lottery, students should register online by 10 a.m. EST Thursday, 4 Dec.

The GW Project Management Association (PMA) elections are upon us. The first step is for interested individuals to nominate themselves for the ballot. Once nominations are received and finalized, the MSPM student body will vote for the new board.
If you are interested in serving on the board, complete the nomination survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2GRVZJR. Submissions are due no later than Thursday, October 30, at 5 pm EDT. Both on-campus and online students are eligible. Additional details on the board and their roles is available.

GW PMA Board
The GW Project Management Association (PMA) along with the Project Management Alumni Association (PMAA) hosted an amazing Speed Networking event at the School of Business on Thursday, April 11. Alumni represented many different organizations including:

- Micron Technology, Inc.
- Internal Revenue Service
- Homeland Security
- Visionary Integration Professionals
- Hewlett-Packard Consulting
- Project Management Institute
The event opened with a welcome by PMAA Vice President Sara Alsaffar and followed by the PMA President, Anna Matsiras, who summarized the events that the PMA had hosted this year.
Then we got down to business. The 30 participants were assigned to tables and the banter began. With some light nudging the conversation began with drafted questions from both the PMA and PMAA. The interactions quickly developed into full fledged conversations. Conversation topics included PMP certification, GW’s integration and accreditation by PMI, industry acceptance of project management as a profession, planning course loads, graduation plans, perceptions of courses and the ever elusive jobs, jobs, jobs!
Everyone had a great time and met new classmates and made strong connections with our alumni community. Again, we want to thank the PMAA for their participation and their co-sponsorship of the event with the MSPM program! Thank you to everyone who came out, and if you missed it, please keep an eye out for notification of the next event on May 10th. We will try to squeeze in a happy hour before semester’s end, too!

As your board of the GW Project Management Association (PMA), we are reaching out to update you on the latest PMA plans for the spring. The PMA aims to help MSPM students connect with fellow students, program alumni, and the University through innovative programming and events.

This semester we are exploring opportunities for alumni to support current students in the MSPM program. On April 11, 2013, from 5:30-7:30pm, the PMA and the Project Management Alumni Association (PMAA) will host a student and alumni networking event in Washington, DC. If you are interested in participating, please save the date and send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than March 15, 2013. We hope to see many of you at the event. Additional details will be provided as the event date approaches.
