Space is still available to attend the GW DIT Project and Portfolio Management Office’s Project Management Symposium on Monday, 21 Sep. The one-day event was created for exchanging and sharing knowledge of project management practices in higher education, see agenda for session details. The program will award five $4,000 scholarships to current MSPM students. Deadline is Friday, 7 Aug, at 6 p.m. EDT. Scholarship application and full details available on the blog. Only complete applications will be reviewed.

Fall Classes Not Appearing on Blackboard?
Are your fall classes not yet appearing on Blackboard? In most cases, they should not yet appear on Blackboard. Most professors will not open the class materials on Blackboard until the first week of the semester, which begins 31 Aug.

As a reminder, Blackboard is NOT where you should confirm your course registrations. Course registrations should always be confirmed in GWeb.

GW DIT PPMO Project Management Symposium, 21 Sep
Attend the GW DIT Project and Portfolio Management Office Project Management Symposium on Monday, 21 Sep. Registration fee is $60 for GW students. Several members of the MSPM faculty are scheduled to present, including Prof Kwak, Prof Ghosh, and Prof Cioffi. Event is open to all and PDUs will be awarded.

The George Washington University Division of Information Technology (IT) Project and Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) is hosting an inaugural Project Management Symposium on Monday, September 21, 2015. This is a one-day event created for the exchanging and sharing of knowledge of project management practices in higher education.

The fee includes admission to the conference, lunch and refreshments:
GW Attendees – $60
Non-GW Attendees – $85

Professional Development Units (PDUs)
Attendees with Project Management Certifications through the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be able to claim PDUs for this event. The maximum amount of PDUs available will be communicated shortly.

The MSPM program is pleased to offer one full registration to the DBIA/SAME 2015 Federal Project Delivery Symposium at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC on 18-20 Aug. The event features education sessions on the full spectrum of federal project types with a focus on design-build best practices and contracting methodology. Interested in attending? Contact Matthew Nessan at mmnessan@gwu.edu regarding your interest and availability. The selected student will be asked to assist in the MSPM exhibit booth on 18-19 Aug. Please note this offer does not include travel, lodging, or any other conference related expenses.

GW Writing Center Open During Summer
The University Writing Center is open this summer, from 3 Jun-13 Aug. The center provides services to both on-campus and online students. Writing consultants are available for 25- and 50-minute sessions free of charge. Appointments can be made online via gwu.mywconline.com.

2014 GW Business Analytics Symposium, 30 May

You are invited to explore open data and the power of analytics at the 2014 GW Business Analytics Symposium. Sponsored by the GW School of Business, Department of Decision Sciences, and the Institute for Integrating Statistics in Decision Sciences, this day-long symposium will educate and connect you to the world of analytics. The event is on Friday, 30 May, 8 am to 5 pm with a reception following, in the Marvin Center at 800 21st St, NW. Registration is free for GW students, alumni, and faculty, but registration is required. Event is open to those outside of the GW community for a small fee. Breakfast, lunch and an evening reception are included.

If you have not yet registered for the fall semester, please consider doing so in the near future. Several of the distance sections of the MSPM courses are filling up. If you plan on attending courses on campus, though, you should register for the on-campus sections. The fall semester begins Monday, 25 Aug.

The GW PMA has teamed up with the PMI Washington DC Chapter to host a networking event on Wednesday, August 21, from 5:30-7:30pm at Tonic (2016 G St, NW). The event is open to MSPM students, GW MSPM alumni, PMIWDC members, and non-members alike. Preregister for the event and save!

Volunteers Needed for PMIWDC PM Symposium, Sep 13

PMIWDC is looking for 3 volunteers to help secure sponsorships for their Project Management Symposium, scheduled for September 13. Weekly responsibilities require approximately 5 hours/week of your time, but includes free registration for the PM Symposium. Earn PDUs for your volunteer efforts!
