2018 MSPM Award Winners Announced!

Congratulations to our 2018 MSPM award winners!  Each year, MSPM students are given the chance to vote for the Outstanding MSPM Faculty. Students vote this year went to Dr. Janne Kettunen for the Outstanding MSPM Faculty award.

The MSPM program selects the winners for MSPM Academic Excellence and MSPM Service Excellence from the graduating class.  The 2018 results are now available and the winners are as follows:

The award winners will be honored at an invitation-only ceremony on Thursday, May 17, at the Betts Theater and at the GWSB Masters and Doctoral Celebration on Friday, May 18. Congratulations to the winners: Dr. Kettunen, Bakdaulet, Angela, Vugar, Melody and Phebean!

2-  Welcome 2018 GWPMA Board. We welcome the new GWPMA Board for 2018 who will lead the MSPM student body and organize events such as luncheons, volunteer fairs and university talks through Spring 2019. Congratulations to the new members, namely:

  • Vice President, Strategic Relations: Ishai Trani

3-  MSPM Student Bob Estes shares first CERES light images. Robert (Bob) Estes, MSPM student and NASA’s Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) Deputy Project Manager, Flight Projects Directorate proudly announced that the CERES is working! Bob shared images of the first light observed by the CERES FM6 instrument on orbit. The CERES instrument was one of the five that launched 18 November 2017 aboard the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Joint Polar Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1). After reaching the polar orbit, the satellite became NOAA-20. Both CERES and JPSS-1 are perfect examples of applicability of project management discipline in scientific discoveries. Read more.

1- Student Holds. A quick reminder to check any holds on your account before Spring 2018 registration opens on 9 November.  All holds should show up on your GWeb account. Students should contact Student Accounts Office for any questions related to financial holds (sao@gwu.edu | Phone: 202-994-7350). Questions about administrative holds due to missing transcripts, academic integrity training or any other related program requirements should be directed to mspminfo@gwu.edu.

2- Are you a leader looking to improve your leadership skills? The George Washington University Project Management Association (GWPMA) is seeking nominations from MSPM students to serve on the Board of Directors for at least a one-year term. The GWPMA is a student organization with a mission to promote the project management discipline, the MSPM program, and its students while providing professional development and networking activities. The candidate must:

  1. Be a current MSPM student
  2. Be able to serve a one-year term on the GWPMA Board of Directors

The GWPMA Board of Directors will finalize board Elections on 23 October 2017.

Nominations must be received before 5:00 PM ET on 20 October 2017
